Transmodern Fest 08 is over, go home, pelvis has left the building.

J Gavin Heck

Since I've got a studio at LOF I figured I'd weasel my way into the transmodern festival, but as I witnessed the amount of sincere work and honest hard working art energy that those who put it together I ended up paying and checking out Friday/Saturday. Along the way I met Alice Kemp, Gillian Wylde and somehow lucked into talking to one of the festivals movers and shakers, Ric Royer for an hour or so after everything shut down around 2am in my studio.

I wont bore you with the dust level details of something that is over, and was wonderful in many many ways, but basically if next year is anything like this year, you should buy your tickets now, or start planning your performance. LOF was packed and the audience (self included) often was more engaged, challenged and involved than I've seen at previous LOF events.
People even DANCED! (even me people)

I missed Alice's piece, but pics and links are avail here
transmodernfestival.wordpress.com
and I'm sure based on the conversation we had it was wonderful, she's one of those rare artists, along with the performances I caught by Gillian Wylde, Blevin Blectum, Erin Womack and Baltimore's own Lauren Bender who can take a handful of dust and make time stop, the world shatter and reassemble into previously unseen elements. Can't say I remember many specifics of the conversation I had with Ric other than it made me feel pretty ok about being a baltimoron, and an artist, and glad that he and the others who worked so hard to make this event happen are already thinking about next year.

Only regret was I wished I hadn't had to work on Sunday and miss baltimore's Fluid Movement lead the love parade, as clearly if bmor needs more of anything its love, and parades, but I was there in spirit and via the loan of my glitter cannon.
